
The main topic of the 13-th conference of the Union of the Capitals of Central and Southeastern European Countries which was held in Vienna was
“The Cities facing the international economic and financial crisis”. Participants from the City of Skopje on this conference were the General Secretary of the City of Skopje, Ms. Gordana Ivanovik and the Head of the Unit for international cooperation, Mrs. Meri Kostovska.
The main focus on this conference was given to the relation between the economic crisis and the cities, especially the capitals, which are not only the drivers and centers of the national economies, but also centers of social development. Therefore, in the framework of this conference two panel sessions were organized, a session dedicated on urban tourism and on tourism development.
The participants signed a Declaration of the conference of the Union which is giving impact on the role and importance of the cities in a time of economic crisis when cities should develop strategies for urban tourism in order to enhance the quality of the touristic portfolio and also they have to be concentrated on ensuring planning reliability and providing service delivery.
On the 13-th conference of the Union of the Capitals of Central and Southeastern European Countries there were participants of 11 capitals-members of the Union.
