The humanitarian auction of cakes was held yesterday evening (15.11.2009) in the night club "Hard Rock" in Skopje. The auction was part of the first International manifestation INTERSCOPECAKES 2009. The collected funds from the auction and the funds raised from the tickets will be donated to children without parents in the Children S.O.S village.
The Mayor of the City of Skopje, Mr. Koce Trajanovski emphasized that he is very glad that the City of Skopje is the organizer and sponsor of this event and that Skopje city hosts the confectioners from many countries. On this International manifestation there were participants from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Croatia, Serbia, Turkey, Montenegro and Macedonia.
The participants competed in two categories: amateur and professional.
In the professional category, the cake "Venice" won the first place, second was the cake "Mahagony”, while the third was the cake, “Jagodina”. In the amateur category, the cake,"Serbia” won the first place, the cake “Village house" was second and third was the cake "All about love”. The cake "Venice" was created by the confectioners from the pastry shop "Tourist" from Nis, Serbia. The confectioner Zvonimir Mihajlovic was the creator of the cake, which in 2004 won the Guinness record. This cake weighed about two tons and was 145 meters long. The pastry shop "Tourist" exists from 1956, and has a tradition of more than a hundred years.
The manifestation was organized by the City of Skopje, the non-governmental humanitarian organization HOA-angels and the Youth Cultural Center.
