Loaf V, the king of Norway, is announced for honourable citizen of the City of Skopje on September 7-th, 1966.
Olaf V (Olaf Alexander Edward Christian Frederik) was born on July 2-nd, 1903, at Appleton House near Sandringham, England. The new king was a grandson of England's King Edward VII and a great-grandson of Queen Victoria. Olaf V was king of Norway from 1957 to 1991, son and successor of Haakon VII.
During the German invasion of Norway, Olaf took an active part in the struggle for liberation. He assumed supreme command of the Norwegian forces in 1944 and returned to Norway in 1945. He was succeeded by his only son, Harold V.
